Science Ambassadors making science fun in South Wales

Inflation and deflation of balloons using nitrogen, freezing flowers and bananas and the distillation of oxygen using copper tubes and condensation proved to be winners in creating student interest in the science presentations given at the Tasker Millward School in Haverford West in February.

Around 400 students took part in a series of three demonstrations given by BOC Science Ambassadors, Nick Broomfield, and Tony Billinghurst. As Nick says “Fire always seems to get their interest regardless of age”.

It certainly generated plenty of questions at the end of the presentation, though Nick did consider the threat of detention as an added incentive to take part!

John Sharp, Head of Science at the school, and several students were particularly interested in accessing the website for information on the BOC graduate career scheme. For careers information please go to www.boc.com
